Preliminary Task

For my preliminary task to create a front cover of a college magazine, to do this i had to use programs like photoshop and indesign training. On the front cover of the magazine i had to include a photo of a student in a medium close up and use different tools and text boxes to add text to the front cover. The photo of the student fits the content and the target audience as it is for a college magazine.  To do this i had to upload the photo from the camera, open it in photoshop to cut around the image and get rid of the background to then open it up in indesign to then create my front cover.

The name of the magazine is simple so that students specifically know it is just for SMC students only. I have used a variety of fonts for example, Rotondo and century gothic. The colour scheme is purple and grey making it unisex for both boys and girls. The MOD of the magazine is direct address as the person on the cover is looking straight out of the magazine inviting the reader in.

I have used bright blue colour for the text on the cover of the magazine to grab the readers attention and make the reader want to buy it. I have also included a barcode on the front cover to show the price. Straplines have been used down the side of the cover to highlight main sections that will feature later on in the magazine.

If i was to do this task again i would do somethings differently. For example i would create more text boxes, make it more creative and colourful so that it would interest the audience more. I would also be able to make it better as i would know more of what to do as this was my first time of creating a front cover of a magazine.

This is the contents page i have created for the preliminary task for a school magazine. The colour scheme has been used similar to the front cover and page numbers are used linked to text or pictures. The title is placed at the top of the page to attract the readers attention and quotes and sub headings are used to interest the target audience.
